Two students from Conant were given scholarships to attend the NHIA precollege program over the summer. Below is some work and a brief description from Julia VanHouten's experience.
"This summer, I had the privilege of
going to a pre-college program at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.
Throughout the two weeks I was there, I stayed in the dorms, ate in the
cafeteria, and took three college-level art classes in their airy facilities. I
was able to work on art 24/7, surrounded by people who love art just as much I
do. I had the chance to work on black and white photography, using view
cameras, something I had never done before. In just two weeks, I created some
beautiful prints from negatives we had developed in the darkroom. My experience
this summer solidified my desire to pursue an art career, and now I can’t wait
until I head off to college. " - Julia
